Pack Graduation

On June 5th, our pack had a graduation ceremony for our scouts. This ceremony gave the boys recognition for a year well done. Here is a picture of my assistant, Sandy, Zach, Tom and me, Melanie . getting ready to leave for the ceremonies
Of our 10 scouts now in our den, 7 of them were present to participate in the ceremonies. From left to Right: Chad, Colin, Zach S, Andrew, Leo, Christian, and Tom. Sandy and I are behind the boys, but we are not very clear in the picture.
I was exceptionally proud of Leo, as he was the only one of the "Tigers" to receive recognition for perfect attendance to every Pack Meeting. Now we start working to be wolves.

May - Police Station

This week we visited the local police department thanks to one of our den dads... THANK YOU!!... the boys really enjoyed the experience. We got to listen to great tips on safety, and got to tour the police station. Though, we were unable to tour the jail itself, cause they had a prisoner up there, and it would not have been safe for the boys... here are a couple of pictures of the boys that attended. For this outing, we had our four new scouts along for the trip, so they could see what kinds of fun things they get to look forward to next year as we work towards our Wolf Rank. I hope this is the only time our boys will ever see inside of a police car!! Thanks again to the Police Department for the tour.

May - Nature Center

Today, we went on a trip to the local nature center. The center itself was closed, but we did manage a nature Hike
There was a really cool Totem Pole And this crazy tree... there was a tunnel going right threw it. We climbed up some rocks, and Tom C. got to sit by this cool eagle
Got to learn about new trees...
It was a lot of fun. Thanks to our Den Cheif for reminding us to slow down, and look at what nature has to offer.

May - Mega Soccer

Today, we had planned on a trip to the local police station, but there were some scheduling conflicts, so we decided on a game of "Mega Soccer".... It was defiantly worth the effort, the boys loved it... and they kept in motion for an entire hour... The parents werent happy with me, as they stood as our makeshift Goal posts. and it was kinda chilly outside. During the game, our ball must have given up, cause it deflated, and we had to end the game kicking around a flat ball... but it worked well to crown the scout with the most points. But the boys didnt seem to notice, they had a great time, and since Andrew S. scored the most goals, he was deamed Most valuable player, and was given the deflated ball to wear as a hat...

District Pinewood Derby

We had two boys from our den make it to the District pinewood derby.. .Leo P. & Zach S. Our boys ended up placing 9th overall in the Tiger division...
There were about 30 boys total... Not too bad.

April - Cake Auction

Today we had a cake auction, this was by far the coolest looking cake... it was a hamburger... made with gummy veggies, and lots of different color icing... the boys each bought at least one cake, and gave their trusty cub scout salute to celebrate

Harlem Globetrotters..

The pack took the boys to see The Harlem Globtrotters at the palace this month... Tom & Zach were able to attend... And I believe Leo showed up later.

March Pack Meeting - Campfire

During the March Pack meeting, the theme was Campfire, so all of the dens had to come up with a skit and a song... here is the video of our skit, the song was standard, and long we used Tigers, Wolves & Bears...

So the skit was called "60 seconds"... Got quite a laugh And the song was "Old McDonald" cause we found it appropriate.

Pinewood Derby

This picture is of our Religious leader Will Diaz, and our very pregnant Den Leader Gelin Cordero. Gelin has resigned from den leader, and Melanie had taken over, at this time, there are no pictures of Melanie, or her assistant Sandy. Here are the boys intently watching the finish line..

Here is a picture of our boy's. Christian and his family wisely beat the rush from the parking lot, therefore he is not in this picture.

From Left to Right...

Andrew S. ; Zachery C.; Thomas C.(3rd); Leo P (2nd);

And Zach S in front (1st)

This video is just one of the several heats to run that night, but all cars included are TIGERS.

Blue & Gold Ceremony

This year was our first Blue and Gold Ceremonies. Zach S.; Tom C.; and Leo P. were in attendance. At the ceremony, they received thier rank by shoving an arrow into a balloon, that dad was holding, and their rank and confetti flew into the air... The dad's were really nervous about the sharp objects being handed to their son's, but alas, no body was hurt, and the boys were excited to officailly be Tigers. Here is: Mike, Erin & Tiger Scout Leo.... Here is: Rob, Sandy & Tiger Scout Zach and finally here is Joe, Melanie & Tiger Scout Thomas the remainder of the den were unable to attend, and were missed

January Pack Meeting - Hawian Luau

Ever month we have pack meetings, this month the theme was Hawian Luau... we had hula hoop competitions, and Limbo Competitions. But the most fun of the evening, was when the top popcorn sellers got to personally give the leader of choice some pie...
Before I aquired the den, Mrs Gelin was the den leader, she has left the den for maternity leave, but not before Tom got to deliver her pie... Tom sold $1561 in popcorn. check out the video.

Scouting for Food

Every year the cub scouts go out and collect food for our local food bank... This was our first year doing this. Since we "scout for food" in November, it was a bit chilly outside.
Here is Zachery & Thomas delivering bags to the front doors of all of our neighbors.
And here is a picture of our pack, and all the food we collected.
After collecting all that food, our Pack leaders cooked us up some hotdogs and Hot cocoa, since it was also cold the day we picked up the food.

Winter Campout at D-Bar-A

Pack 1916 went on their annual "Winter Campout" in from the 27 - 29th of October... In this photo, we are hiking to the firing range to shoot some BB Guns at some targets... boy was it a wet day... rained the whole weekend. This is Mike showing Leo some tips.

Here is where we slept... No outing is complete without atleast attempting a picture of the boys...Left to Right: Zach S.; Christian M.; Thomas C.; Leo P. Looking forward to spring camping already...

In order to have the money for the pack for the 2007 - 2008 year, as scouts, we sold popcorn to earn money...

Sorry guys, only had a picture of Tom...
