November Pack Meeting

This is the closest I have ever been to a complete Den picture... I will have to talk to the committee chair, who managed to take a more direct photo.

I had five boys join our den in May of 2008, all five of these boys earned their Bobcat this week. Their first step in earning Wolf. This week, I was able to present the boys with their "Progress towards Rank" Totems. They receive one yellow bead for every 3 acheivements they do towards earning rank, earning 4 total yellow beads... All of my boys were presented with all four of their yellow beads this week as well. (they will get red beads for Bear)

Winter Campout at D-Bar-A

On our first night at camp, it was raining and miserable. But we are a determined Den, we managed to start a fire on the first night, with the overly soaked firewood... I believe we were the butt of a few jokes such as "want to see something funny, the wolves are trying to start a fire... " But, nobody had any issue with warming up next to our fire...

Friday night, we did some crafts, played flashlight tag, and had Marshmallow Olympics... Great sport.

On Saturday, we had a wonderful breakfast of Eggs. Then we headed back to our cabin to learn some knot tying... a couple of the dads did a great job of trying to teach the boys... In fact, the boys spent a lot of time tying the bunks together for the rest of the weekend.

After about an hour of Knot tying, we decided to have an obstical course for the boys... They loved it.... They had to low crawl under a door, use puddle hoppers to walk across the cabin, climb up a bunk, hop across a couple other bunks, jump two walls then pop a balloon... it was a lot of fun.
We then made our way back to the main cabin for lunch.. . We had grilled cheese, or grilled ham sandwhiches... very good!! The boys learned to play chess while we waited.

Then it was off to the BB-Gun range. Of course, it was raining AGAIN...
On the hike back to the cabin, it started to snow.
Saturday night, we retired an American Flag, and Logan taught the boys the proper way to respect the flag. The next morning we collected the grommets.

The boys thought we were funny for the closing ceremonies, we were running late on cleaning our cabin, so the boys and I took off running to the main cabin for closing. We ran through the shortcut, which just happened to have another Boy Scout Troop that was having a meeting.. We sounded like a heard of elephants stomping through. When we emerged at the main cabin, the whole pack was watching us run up... but hey, at least we made it...
We went home within the hour, all the boys wished we could stay longer. Guess we will all be back next year.

October - Halloween Party

We had the annual Halloween Party for Cub Scouts. Everyone in the family dresses up for the event. Here are a few pictures of the evening... All of my den had a great time.
We did a mummy wrap... where each team had three people, and two of them wrapped the third member in Toilet Paper... it was difficult, but a lot of fun...
Then we played a game of musical bones... each person had a bone, and they would pass the bones till the music stopped, and the people who didnt have bones in their hands when the music stopped were out... great fun!!
We made a craft, I didnt get any pictures cause I was helping the scouts, but we made the Finger in a Box trick... LOL... they boys loved it.
Then, we had the boys throw candy at the leaders/ parents... the scouts would try to get the candy in the pumpkins that are attached to the fronts of the parents...

October - Cub Harvest Day

The District put on a Harvest day just for the scouts and siblings... The boys got to do Bottle Rockets, and play soccer for a beltloop. They got to Shoot Bow's earning a beltloop. They got to have Donuts & Cider, and there was a picnic with Hotdogs & chips. There was also a Trout Pond where the boys could fish, again earning a beltloop.
The siblings had different events, carmel apple decorating, wood branding, and a bunch of other things... I didnt get a lot of pictures, but I did manage to get a few..
The activities were done as a pack, not a den... so I hope I got at least one picture of each of the boys who attended.
